To celebrate this milestone, we have also created a replica model, which now resides in the Street Candy Garage. In 1983, Harpal Singh and Gulshanbeer Kaur of Delhi had the honor of becoming the first proud owners of the Maruti 800. The keys to this groundbreaking vehicle were handed to them by none other than the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The Maruti 800 ignited a car revolution in India, becoming a status symbol for the Indian middle class and a cherished part of many families’ lives during the 1980s.
